Backup Opera Mini feeds with Opera Link

Posted on 22 August 2012 by smyru

Sometimes feeds in Opera Mini get lost for no reason. If you are a Mini user and an avid feed reader and have a big feeds collection that could be pretty annoying. Sadly neither Opera nor Opera Mobile, nor Mini synchronizes your feeds with Opera Link.

There is a workaround though. In your Mini enable Opera Link (Menu > Settings > Opera Link) unless you already have done so. If you have a Link account, just log in otherwise create a new account and log into it.

Next in Opera Mini go to feeds index and open each feed one by one. After each feed loads, just create a bookmark of it. Since bookmarks get synced with Link, you can backup your feed list this way. Be aware that only the feed address is synced not the reading state of it.

In case of a disaster, make sure you are synced with Link and subscribe to all your favorite feeds loading them from bookmarks.

Also whenever you subscribe to a feed, create a bookmark of it as well. You might want to create a dedicated bookmark subfolder for your feeds.

Note that this way you can also sync your feeds between various Mini versions (ie. to Mini Next) or various devices like tablet and mobile phone.
